Annoying Habits

I have these annoying habits that drive my husband crazy. I'm sure all of us have certain things we do that make our loved ones roll their eyes, or sigh in exasperation. Here's a few of mine:

  • 1. I tell him to turn off the headlights on the van when we reach our destination. This may not seem like a big deal except for the fact that the van beeps to remind you. I always wait until the dinging starts and then say, "honey, headlights." Drives him nuts!
  • 2. I am a night person. I get most of my ambition during the late hours; 10:00 hits and I start thinking it's time to clean out the spare bedroom and re-organize our closet! My dear hubby, a confirmed morning person, is stuck vacuuming, scrubbing floors and rearranging furniture until the late, or very early hours!
  • 3. I'm an obsessive planner. If I have a job to do, I like to plan it down to the very minutest detail. I know the best route to the grocery store, friends' houses, parent's, church etc. It's either my way or, quite literally, the highway! LOL!
  • 4. I like to think I'm adventurous when it comes to trying new things. In reality, I'm not. We'll go to a restaurant and I'll order some exotic sounding dish...then switch with my hubby after I take the first bite.
  • 5. I'm a klutz. I walk around in my own world, oblivious to others around me. I've been known to walk into the broadside of a wall...in my own house! Hubby says he comes shopping with me just to protect the unsuspecting, innocent bystanders.

So fess up. What are some of your weird habits?

I am obsessive about how the dishwasher is loaded. If DH tries to help me by loading it, I'll pull everything out and rearrange it.

OTOH, he needs things to look tidy, and will shove stuff into closets and cupboards just so the house appears neat. Drives me nuts... I'll find things in the strangest places.

Maybe we're both neurotic.

LOL! Oh, Marianne, I forgot about the dishwasher! I also like it loaded a certain way...it just makes good sense! I've even reorganized other people's.

Wow, where do I start?

I supposs the most annoying right now (there always seems to be new ones creeping up LOL) is that my husband works from our at-home office. For the life of me, if I have a question, or even just a thought about pretty much nothing, I bother him. It's not that I mean to - I just don't think before I open the door, start talking to him, and then have that moment of realization that what I'm doing is annoying him :-)

I hate to admit but he's started wearing earplugs. LOL

My dear husband trys to convince me that it just helps him hear the white noice of his breathing & therefore he can concentrate easier but I really know the truth. sigh.

at, that's hilarious about the ear plugs! I love it! I'll have to start doing that when I'm reading, because guaranteed when I'm in a good part in my book my Hubby wants to start talking with me! Oih!

As for annoying habits - it's all about the lights and the drawers.

I don't mean too, but somehow most of the lights end up on in our house, which drives my Honey crazy. "Why are the lights on if no one is even in the room!" I can't help it if I have an over active imagination and have seen one too many CSI's - you never know what/who is behind the corner in the dark!

But the best is the drawers in the kitchen. He can't stand it when they are just slightly open. I don't mean to leave them open. I just push them generally closed and continue on with whatever I'm doing (usually preparing food) not even noticing. However, I will confess that there are times when I go around the kitchen and slightly open all the drawers, cupboards, and even the stove, just because the reaction is soooo funny! We have an odd sense of flirting.

at, that is just TOO funny! I can't believe that your DH invested in earplugs! I'd be suspicious of "the white noise of his breathing", too. :-)

ROFLOL! Shar, I can't believe you deliberately antagonize your DH! You wicked genious, you! I'm going to need to get some ideas from the master! And what is it with them interupting us when we're at all the good parts in a book? Do they have some special sense that lets them know? The hero and heroine will be moments from declaring their love and...."Honey, whatcha doin'?" Happens every time! :-)
