The Holiday, Part 1

As promised, I'm finally getting around to sharing about my holiday. A few things I learnt:

1. My husband is a suspicious looking character. He was pulled aside twice for a random search. The first time, I was startled, yet amused, and had to squelch the urge to call after the guard, "Let me know if you find anything!"

2. Apparently, being at sea level means you can drink twice as much and not feel any effects. I'm not a drinker, but if I go on to explain how I discovered this, I'll just end up talking myself into a hole.

3. I've begun to question the standards and requirements needed to fly a Boeing 757. I think our pilot was a boy scout.

4. When taking boat rides out on the open ocean, it might be in your best interest to check your guide's credentials. And you should always wear a life jacket, providing there is one available.

5. God cares that I get to the bottom of the mountain via the road! Some countries don't believe in guardrails.

And now, for some pictures.......

This is a cemetery I saw as we were leaving San Jose. I found it fascinating that they don't bury their dead in the ground; they put them in these tombs.

We drove through the mountains on our way to the Carribbean coast.

This is where the river from the volcano meets the river from the mountains. The dirty one is the volcano; the clear one from the mountains.

Chris (my cousin's husband) needed to make a business call to some guy's house. We saw this statue and I burst out laughing. I couldn't help myself, I had to take a picture. I call this one "Chad and the Eunich."

Here's a close up. Meet Mr. Bob-It, poor unfortunate soul.

Okay, I'm only on day three of our holiday and had planned to post more photos and stories in this post, but Blogger is being a pain in the you-know-what and won't let me upload any other pictures. I've been trying for three days to finish this first part of our holiday, but no success. I'll try to get the other stuff up in a couple of days.

LOL! That was hee-larious, Shauna! The pilot was a boy scout, lol. I think he flew a plane I was on once, too.

The picture of the two rivers meeting was incredible.

FUNNY!!

They bury people in crypts in New Orleans because it's below sea level. Is that maybe why it's done in San Jose??

OH! Do you know the way to San Jose?? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I like the picture of the two rivers, too. Very cool.

Mr. Bob-It?? YOU'RE TOO MUCH!!

Becky - Thanks. I especially liked that picture. And I'm thinking the 'pilot' was a boy scout who won a paper-plane flying contest. :-)

Jenster - They're called crypts? Anyways, that could certainly be the reason. My dad's reasoning is the soil is so furtile, if they bury their dead in it they'll come back to life. ;-) I still don't know the way to San Jose. It just feels like you're going in circle after circle on narrow quad trails. LOL! And Mr. Bob-It had a Missus on the other side of the driveway. She was anatomically correct in every way. No missing parts = no picture. :-)
