A Moment of Silence

A tragedy happened yesterday and I'd like to take a moment of silence in remembrance of Ryan Smyth, once an Oilers icon, now nothing but a sweet memory. Many fans are bidding farewell to this hockey-great and out of love for my husband, a HUGE Oilers fan, I would like to dedicate my blog to him this morning. Honey, I'm sorry for your loss!

Now, I'm not into hockey but I call myself an Oilers fan - it's better for our marriage. LOL! But even I felt a twinge when I heard Ryan Smyth had been traded. (No, it wasn't indigestion) This guy had become so well loved by Oilers fans, myself included. He's one of the only ones I can actually recognize on the ice! LOL!

Anyways, this is for you, Honey. And now, for that moment of silence......................................

Ah, Bliss!

The house is quiet and still, the children are napping and in the background the coffee maker sings the gentle lullabye of drip, drip, drip. The soothing aroma of coffee wafts on the air and deep inside, my soul sighs! This is no lie! Now, the only thing that is going to make this even better is the chocolate-fudge-brownie cheesecake I'm going to have with it! Creamy, cool sweetness that dances over the tongue and smoothly slides down the throat. This is followed by a sip of rich, dark coffee, and together, it's bliss!

So what makes your soul sigh? Is it chocolate, a special tea? Perhaps a certain song or movie? Let's hear what speaks to you! And while you're thinking, I'm going to go pour myself a cup of coffee....it's done dripping!

The Other Blog

Did you ever have an idea that you thought was brilliant? Something you thought was unique and one-of-a-kind? Well, when I decided to set up this blog, I began thinking of different names. I came up with a few, but my favorite was "The Coffee Stop." I thought it was cute, funny and witty. I wanted the URL to be the same, but when I checked to see if thecoffeestop.blogspot.com was available, it WASN'T! I was shocked. I thought this great, original idea was mine!

So, I decided to check it out. I went to thecoffeestop.blogspot.com to see what other brilliant mind had come up with this blog title! LOL! It turned out to be a pretty interesting find. The blogger's last comment was in January, 2006, but it had some fun shopping tips and her header said "Coffee, Shopping and Gilmore Girls." That's cool! I'm not a fan of Gilmore Girls, but still, this sounded like someone I could like! Anyways, her profile said she's 19 years old and from Ireland, but that's a few years old. Still, check it out sometime. I thought it was amusing.

*WARNING* CHANGE UP AHEAD!!

Don't you ever wish that life came with warning signs? Big, flashing neon signs that warned there was change up ahead? Something to prepare you for the curve in the road?

I am having such a moment. I feel like I've been pushed off the proverbial cliff and into a free fall of change. And I'm not liking it. Some might say that there are always signs, that when you look back you can see the writing on the wall. Well, let me tell you, there was no writing. No hyroglyphics, no cave drawings, nothing! Just a firm shove and then the shock of realizing that things will never be the same.
You've heard the saying "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." I'm waiting to see if that's true! LOL! But what I do know is that the Potter wants to continually be molding and shaping each of us. I guess that means that I have to be willing to be squeezed, squashed and sometimes pounded if I want to be the jar or vase or bowl of His making. And the great thing is I don't have to be the flashiest, most expensive clay to be used. I just have to be willing!

Lights, camera......

Okay, it's going to take some time before I'm ready to begin posting on this blog. I need to get it all set up and ready to go. Sooooo, if you happen to stumble across this page while surfing the cyberspace, please check back in a few days. Hopefully I'll be able to tickle your funny bone a little while we share a cup of coffee!
