I received a backhanded compliment the other day. I was talking with a young lady from one of the high schools here and, during the course of our chit-chat, it came up that I had a husband and kids. She looked at me strangely and asked, "How old are you?"
"Twenty-seven."
"Oh. You don't seem that old."
Ouch. I didn't realize 27 was that old. On the other hand, I'm flattered that I seem....young? Younger? *shrug*
So, here's the latest scoop:
CHAD...
is upset about the picture I posted of him here. He says it makes him look like he's....not playing with a full deck? A few bricks short of a load? Not the sharpest tool in the shed? You pick one. To be honest, I agree; it's not his best photo.
CONNOR...
is trying to convince me to pack up all three of them and drive to the toy store so he can buy a present for his friend's birthday. Um, no.
BENEN...
made this brilliant observation: "When you poop, it looks like you have a tail."
KOLTEN...
picked a piece of cheese over a brownie! Who's kid is this anyways?! And where did I go wrong?!
ME...
I'm counting down the days 'til hubby and I leave for Costa Rica. No diapers, no demands, no sharing my food, NO COMMITMENTS! I'll fly away, oh glory.........

But will you come back?!
Oh, Shawna, you guys are gonna have such fun...you'll be like honeymooners again! ;o) (Just be sure to eat lots of yogurt before you go to build up the 'good flora'in your systems so you don't get, um...ahem...the runs. A seasoned missionary that taught at our Bible College (and went on lots of missions trips to places like Costa Rica, Equador, etc.) told us that one. It's apparently no fun running for the privy in the middle of the night in a foreign country...wasting all that time you could be enjoying without the kiddos along. Just sayin')
Bwahahaha on Benen's comment! And your Connor must have that same affliction my firstborn has (either that or is practicing for a future as a lawyer with such impressive persuasive skills).
With Jericho it's, "You needed to get light bulbs at WalMart, mom." Which at first might seems kind of him to so helpfully remind his dottering old mother of such things...but it's rather strange how he always ends up navigating us in the direction of the toy section once there!
Dear heavens... 27 is old? I am in SO MUCH trouble, then, as I apparently have one foot in the grave at 40.
When do you leave for Costa Rica? How long are you gone?
Have a great time!
No way!! You're going to Costa Rica??? When?? I hope you have a fantabulous time!
Love the family updates. Your boys (all four of them) crack me up.
So 27 is old? Oy!
*Snicker*
I'm old enough to be your mom.
Trying not to let Sunshine see Benen's observation. ;o)
I posted a blog today that was inspired by you.
One of my friends jsut got back from Costa Rica, she loved it.
Costa Rica? When? Lucky you!
27 is old? When did this happen? lol!
As for Chad's photo... he does look surprised. Okay, now he really is not going to like that photo.
Bennan - ROFLOL!
Barb - I'm told I have to. ;-) My parent's graciousness only lasts so long! LOL!
Becky - And in Costa Rica you can't flush the toilet paper. You put it in the garbage can. Ewww.
Marianne - LOL! Hardly, but it sure shows a teenager's perspective and reminded me of the days I thought that way. LOL! We leave for Costa Rica on November 3 and land back in Canada on the 13th. We'll drive home on the 14th.
Jenster - Yes, we're headin' south! It's going to be awesome! My boys make me laugh on a daily basis. Daily. They are just hilarious.
Daisy - LOL! My Benen finds this totally fascinating. I think it's kinda gross, but probably right up the alley of a four-year-old boy. ;-)
Travis - I'm headin' over to visit your blog now. I have a suspicion I know what it's about, tee-hee.
Deb - Chad thinks I purposely posted the worst photo of him I could find. LOL! The truth is, Benen looked so adorable in it and it was his fourth birthday. I just had to...though I did hesitate before pushing the 'okay' button. LOL! And we leave in 9 days! Lucky us is right. Chad's work is paying for most of the trip...it's a 'Congrats on Five Years' bonus.
